I'm branching out from the Triple D design into other small hunting knives. I'm not big on naming models, but I think this one is going to stick around. I'm going to call it the Spicewood Special, after Spicewood, TX, where my grandparents going back three generations have farmed and ranched. This is a knife modeled after one of my first, a model I call the Triple D, for Deer Disassembly Device. It's the perfect size, shape, and weight for field processing of deer and other medium to large game. This particular knife is made from a USA-made file. The handle material is elm from Bertram, TX. The knife has copper liners which contrast well with the reddish wood. It also has a mosaic pin, and broken wave filework along the spine, which also provides grip in the thumb rest area. After 74 knives, I finally acquired an etching machine and a stencil. I’d drawn out a logo about six months previous, but I just didn’t have the funds to purchase the equipment, or maybe just hadn’t got a round to it. This particular knife is for a man named Troy. It’s a Spicewood Special with mesquite scales and a mosaic pin. It also has copper liners and fish filework.
