Everyone deserves a great knife!

In order to help more people get a Fry knife, I’ve partnered with White River Knife and Tool in Fremont, Michigan to have knives manufactured.  White River built these versions of my Utility Hunter in the USA, out of US materials, to my specifications.  To the best of our ability, this knife is the same profile, same edge style and thickness, and same quality heat treatment as my custom versions.

OAL is 7 3/4″, with a 3 1/4″ blade.  The handle material is bolted on, with an unlined lanyard hole.  The blade finish is tumbled stonewash.

The steel in these knives is S35VN, professionally heat treated to 59/60 RC.  I had intended to use primarily Ultrex Suretouch for this production run, but the material wasn’t available in sufficient quantities.  So, I turned the White River folks loose to use what they had around their factory. The sheaths are leather, manufactured by Smith and Son in Sulphur, Louisiana.

How to Preorder

I will be initially releasing 50 knives out for order.  By ordering early, you get several things that future customers won’t get.  Earlier orders will get to pick from the entire spectrum of handle materials, in the order in which your purchase is received.  If you want a limited color that very few people will have, this is your best chance to pick.  Also, the first 50 knives will get numbered certificates of authenticity.  My wife (quite fairly) asked, “Why would people want that?”  To me, it’s simple.  I hope this project takes off and that we ultimately manufacture thousands of these knives over the next 5 years.  You have the chance to get a documented knife from the first 50!

When you click “Buy now”, you’ll reserve a spot for a knife.   I’ll contact you to pick a color from what’s available.

Future Plans

My intent is to release color batches in limited quantities, such as all 6 of a certain handle material, or 10-20 of the Suretouch knives in a single color. I have it on good authority that these knives will be featured in an upcoming knife magazine issue.   I will be holding back a few for my table at Blade Show in Atlanta, Table 7Q.  Lead time for each group of knives is roughly 3-4 months from the time I place the order to the time I receive the knives, pending any supply chain issues. My goal is to sell through the first run in time to commission a second run to be ready for hunting season in September/October.

Orders of 5 knives (perfect for groomsmen sets) will be priced at $215 per knife.
